What is the Deloitte Foundation Accounting Scholars Program?
The Deloitte Foundation Accounting Scholars Program is collaborating with 25 colleges and universities across the US to help diversify the CPA profession. Together, these schools and the Deloitte Foundation are providing a limited number of full scholarships (100% of tuition and academic fees will be covered excluding books and living expenses) for selected students interested in pursuing a fifth-year master's degree in accounting or master's in accounting/mba for the 2025–2026 academic year.
This scholarship program can help students meet the 150-credit hour requirement to be eligible to sit for the CPA exam.
Who is eligible?
Northeastern shall endeavor to consider a pool of students who meet the recipient eligibility criteria listed below that includes students who are from historically under-represented communities or who are first-generation college students, and students who have demonstrated a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and/or who have faced or appreciate challenges faced by members of demographic groups that are disproportionately under-represented in the field of public accountancy in comparison to the general population.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited College or University in the United States or having recently completed an undergraduate bachelor's at such institution.
- Pursuing an undergraduate baccalaureate degree in accounting from an accredited program (Note: Undergraduate finance or other majors would also be eligible if they are able to complete the master's of accounting program by August 2026).
- Strong academic track record; minimum of 3.0 GPA (on 4.0 scale).
- Selected participants must have the ability to reside in the United States and the intention to pursue career opportunities in the United States after graduating from the University.
- Must meet the standards for admission into a Deloitte Foundation selected accredited college/university master's program in accounting, master's of tax program or master's of accounting program with concentration in audit, advisory or tax.
- Have an interest in pursuing a career in public accounting and obtaining their CPA in the United States, but not presently a CPA.
- Selected participants must matriculate to the University's master's of accounting program (which includes master of accounting programs, master's of tax programs and master's of accounting programs with audit, advisory or tax concentrations) beginning May 2025 and complete such program by August 2026.
- In the spirit of supporting a diverse student population – and ultimately a diverse workforce in the field of public accounting – applicants are encouraged to demonstrate a knowledge and appreciation for the challenges faced in building diverse cohesive teams in the field of public accountancy, as well as any experiences related to such issues. Applicants are encouraged to highlight a variety of differentiators (e.g. being a first-generation college student; having to navigate the demands of financial aid packages; or lacking a community affiliation with the accounting profession) and how those can contribute to invigorate a professional environment.
- In evaluating each student's application, the University shall consider a student's personal statement, academic work, campus activities, and community service related to diversity, equity, and inclusion issues relevant to the field of public accountancy. The University shall consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, color, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, disability status, gender, or any other status prohibited or disfavored by law.

Must remain in good academic standing and be on track to achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) upon graduation.
Interested candidates can apply directly to the Summer 2025 MS in Accounting or MS in Accounting/MBA program. The D'Amore-McKim Admissions Committee will evaluate applicants for this scholarship.
Selected candidates must matriculate to our full-time MS in Accounting/MBA or MS in Accounting beginning in late May 2025 and complete the program no later than August 2026.
The application deadline is November 15, 2024, for Round 1, and February 15, 2025, for Round 2.
A limited number of fellowships will be awarded to top applicants.
