Step 1
Research your program of interest
We recommend the following resources to determine whether your goals and skills are a good fit for the major and career you are considering.
- Set up a meeting with Career Design.
- Review our description and requirements for the BS in Business Administration or BS in International Business (or any of our combined majors), including the concentrations of interest to you.
- Review the course catalog to read course descriptions for the classes that you would be taking for the new major. You should be interested in the classwork of your proposed major!
- Consider the time and expense it will take to complete a business degree. Refer to tuition costs on the Student Financial Services website.
- On the “Resources” tab of your Student Hub, run a Degree Audit using the “Run a Different Program” feature to determine the remaining requirements.
- Talk with business majors who are currently in the D'Amore-McKim School of Business!
Step 2
Review Change of Major requirements
All students seeking a Change of Major must be in good academic standing (full-time student status and a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA).
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA)
- 2.0 minimum cumulative GPA
- 2.0 minimum business GPA
Bachelor of Science in International Business (BSIB)

- 2.75 minimum business GPA*

- Student must be able to complete the intended course progression for the BSIB curriculum in their allotted graduation timeline.
- Student will not be accepted if they intend to co-op during the upcoming term.
*These BSIB GPA requirements are set to align with the standards of overseas partner universities for the international study portion of the degree.
Combined business majors
Change of Major requirements may vary based on the selected combined major. You must meet the entrance criteria for both D'Amore-McKim and the college that houses the other half of your combined major.
F-1 & J-1 visas
Undergraduate F-1 international students are not eligible to change their major until they have completed one academic year, with full-time enrollment and appropriate on-ground presence, as a degree-seeking F-1 student. This is a new rule established by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), effective September 15, 2026.
Updated September 15, 2026
The DHS rule that was scheduled to take effect on September 15, 2026 has been postponed as a result of a nationwide court injunction issued on September 14, 2026. All current F-1/J-1 regulations remain unchanged while litigation continues. The Office of Global Services (OGS) is closely monitoring the developments regarding this rule. Because the situation remains subject to ongoing legal and regulatory developments, OGS will continue to monitor the matter and provide updates as new information becomes available. Students' change of major request will be sent to OGS at the conclusion of the semester for which they submit a major change petition to confirm eligibility.
Undergraduate J-1 international students are generally not eligible to change their major. Students' change of major request will be sent to the Office of Global Services (OGS) at the conclusion of the semester for which they submit a major change petition to confirm eligibility.
Visit the OGS website for additional guidance on the new DHS rule.
Step 3
Complete Change of Major Request Form
Once you're sure you want to transfer into a Business program, you'll need to complete the Change of Major Request Form.
Students must meet with the D'Amore-McKim internal transfer contact to be eligible to change their major. You may schedule a meeting here.
Please review the catalog requirements for students changing their majors.
Once your Change of Major application is processed, you will meet with your newly assigned D'Amore-McKim Academic Advisor to complete your academic plan.
Additional guidelines
- If you are currently on a leave of absence, you must contact DMSB Transfer Services to schedule a meeting before the end of the semester for your application to be considered.
- If you are applying for a combined major, please only apply to the college you would like to be housed in. If you decide you would rather be housed in another college, please email DMSB Transfer Services so we can delete your application.
- If you apply to another college or submit an application to change your major within your current home college during the same term you are applying to D'Amore-McKim, your application with DMSB will not be considered.
