Program options

As technology reshapes finance, organizations need skilled leaders to manage emerging technologies like digital payments, blockchain, AI, and machine learning. Our MS in Fintech Management equips you with the expertise to excel in startups, tech firms, and innovative financial institutions.

Full-time study

You can study full-time (taking three to four courses per semester) and complete your degree in as few as 12 months. Full-time study is F-1 and J-1 visa compliant, allowing international students the chance to work in the United States after graduation. As a STEM-designated program, OPT extension could pave the way for up to 36 months of post-graduate work experience.

Part-time study*

If you're working full time or balancing other obligations, you can choose to study part time with a course schedule tailored to your life. You'll typically take classes in a mini-semester format and complete the program in less than two years.

You'll start with four core courses designed to develop your framework in key business areas like managing organizations, data-driven decision-making, strategy and growth, and finance and operations. From there, you'll tailor your experience with electives that dive into fintech essentials like blockchain, AI in finance, and machine learning. By combining fintech and management, you'll gain a robust understanding of how data, technology, and creativity inform decision-making.

Applicant FAQs

Classes begin in September. As an MS in Fintech Management student, you'll finish the program in 12 months studying full-time or in two years on a typical part-time schedule. Degrees are conferred in May, August, and December with a graduation ceremony held at the end of the spring term.

To apply, log in—or create an account—on our application portal, choose your program, answer a few questions, and submit the fee. You'll need to submit:

  • Application form 
  • A personal statement (<=500 words)
  • Resumé 
  • Two letters of recommendation  
  • Academic transcript(s) from all undergraduate and graduate schools attended 
  • Kira online interview (by invitation; access is provided after submitting your application)
  • Optional GMAT/GRE test scores
  • TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, or PTE Academic (if applicable) 
  • Passport or permanent residency card (if applicable) 

Applicants without a prior degree or background in finance must successfully complete a D'Amore-McKim School of Business core finance course before enrolling in the program.

Admissions prerequisites include:

  • A graduate-level Finance course equivalent to FINA 6200 at Northeastern
  • Demonstrate foundational finance knowledge through one of the following:
    • Undergraduate major or minor in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Mathematics
    • Relevant finance experience, such as budgeting, capital projects, treasury, asset management, or investment advising

Yes. International students must meet additional requirements, including proof of English language proficiency, a valid passport, and English translations of academic transcripts. Northeastern University's D'Amore-McKim School of Business is currently test-optional and does not require applicants to submit GRE or GMAT scores.

Yes. The D'Amore-McKim School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International—the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide.
