Student Run, Experience Driven.

Founded in 2015, Compass consists of a small group of accounting and finance honors students at the D’Amore McKim School of Business. This student-run group is just one of the nine organizations that make up Northeastern University’s Mosaic. Mosaic Organizations are housed in colleges across the university, and D’Amore McKim is home to the premiere accounting resource center that is Compass.

Consult with Real Clients.

Specializing in a range of fields such as tax support, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecast analysis, excel modeling and accounting services, Compass collaborates within Northeastern University’s IDEA ventures lab to assist real start-up companies with the vast tax and accounting needs that arise when developing a new business. IDEA is the University’s student-run venture accelerator.

In Compass, you will work face-to-face with real clients, consult on major projects, perform purposeful research, and experience the trials and triumphs that come with being a part of something significant.

Working within [Compass], you are able to develop a myriad of skills that are critical to success in public accounting. You work with IDEA leadership to prospect for potential clients where you can add value, interface with former professionals in order to explain your findings and defend your conclusions, and develop communication skills through the need to explain technical accounting/tax concepts to an entrepreneur that may not know anything about your area of expertise. These are skills that are highly vaunted in the workplace and cannot be replicated by case studies in the classroom.
