The Center for Emerging Markets' Student Associate program recognizes undergraduate students at Northeastern University who are dedicated to strengthening and expanding emerging-market-related programming and research at the university. In the inaugural cycle of this program, CEM recognized six students as the first cohort of Student Associates.

Undergraduate Degree: Community Health and Sustainability

As a Spring 2023 recipient of the Srinivasan Family Awards for Projects in Emerging Markets, Shreyas Mosurkal, a fourth-year Health Science student at Northeastern University, spent his final semester at Northeastern working to increase access to emergency care in remote regions of Kenya.

Ventures from Northeastern alums filled a big tent at a holiday market on the Boston campus.

As a Spring 2023 recipient of the Srinivasan Family Awards for Projects in Emerging Markets, Alex Chang, a fourth-year Biology and Political Science student at Northeastern University, is bringing portable medical sampling technology to rural communities in Kenya.

“The program recognized my past coursework and experience, so I could select courses that catered to my goals. There are so many concentrations offered, and that aspect really helped me narrow my focus and pursue specific classes relevant to my interests that would help me pivot my career.” says Sidhant Sharma, MS x'23

Paige Cooper, DMSB'21, utilized the relationships from her co-op experience at Reebok to negotiate her first major deal between the Chicago Bears quarterback and the shoe brand.
