This mini-conference on States, Firms, and Sustainability brings together scholars from a variety of academic disciplines to explore how the state interacts with firms to improve sustainability. It analyses novel ways in which the government and firms collaborate to address sustainability challenges, directly through state-owned entities like state-owned firms and sovereign wealth funds, and indirectly through regulations, subsidies, and taxes.

Brandeis University, the Center for Emerging Markets at Northeastern University, Loughborough University London, and the Society for the Advancement of Management Studies kindly sponsor the conference.

We dedicate the conference to Ivan Montiel, who was a passionate sustainability scholar.
