FOR INTERNATIONAL DEGREES:

If you have earned a degree outside the U.S., you are required to submit a course-by-course credential evaluation, accompanied by a certified English translation. The credential evaluation will serve as your official transcript. The Admissions Committee accepts evaluations from any organization recognized by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. Many of our applicants choose to use services such as SpanTran, World Education Services (WES), or International Education Evaluation (IEE).

Graduate Accounting students are encouraged to use Center for Educational Documentation (CED) for international transcript evaluation. If you are planning to apply to sit for the CPA exam, Massachusetts only accepts evaluations from CED.

For further information on credential evaluations, please refer to the FAQ “What are the admissions requirements for international candidates?”

Submitting GMAT or GRE scores is optional. You won't be penalized or disadvantaged if you choose not to submit these scores. All applicants are fully considered for admission and merit scholarships, regardless of whether they submit standardized test scores.

If you think submitting GMAT or GRE scores would strengthen your application, feel free to include them. You can upload scanned or unofficial scores with your application. Official test scores can be requested for GMAT through MBA.com and for GRE through ETS.org. You can find the list of program codes in the FAQ “What program code should I use to order official GMAT and GRE test scores?”

What are the admissions requirements for international candidates?

In addition to the general graduate admissions requirements, the following apply to international candidates:

English Proficiency

Written and verbal English proficiency is necessary for success in D'Amore-McKim classrooms. If English is not your native language, you must provide proof of English language proficiency through a standardized test or qualifying academic or professional experience.

We accept the following English language proficiency test scores: TOEFL iBT®, IELTS, Duolingo, and PTE Academic. Please note that we do not accept TOEFL's MyBest™ scores. When applying, enter your scores and upload a scanned copy of your results. Results from these tests are valid for two years. If you are accepted to one of our programs, you must send us your official score report directly from the testing agency as a condition of enrollment.

You can also demonstrate English proficiency if you have completed a bachelor's or master's degree at an accredited institution where English is the language of instruction, or if you have worked full-time for two years in the United States or another native English-speaking environment. During the application process, you may include an explanation of your experience in your optional essay.

For candidates who earned an associate's, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree from the following countries, a test of English proficiency is not required: Anguilla, Antigua, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Canada (except Quebec), Cayman Islands, Dominica, Ghana, Grenada, Greenland, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Liberia, New Zealand, Nigeria, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, Singapore, South Africa, Tobago, Trinidad, Turks and Caicos Islands, Uganda, United Kingdom, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Academic Transcripts

All academic transcripts must be submitted in English. If your transcripts are not in English, they must be translated before submission. You may submit unofficial, scanned academic transcripts with your application. Each transcript must include a transcript legend. You should include all postsecondary educational institutions, technical or professional schools, and all diplomas or degrees earned. Please do not include transcripts from your secondary school or high school.

If you are accepted to one of our programs, you will be required to provide official transcripts as a condition of enrollment. Detailed instructions for submitting official transcripts can be found in the FAQ section.

You must request a course-by-course international credential evaluation if you earned a degree outside the United States. The Admissions Committee will accept an evaluation by any organization recognized by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. Many of our applicants use SpanTran, World Education Services (WES), or International Education Evaluation (IEE).

Graduate Accounting students are encouraged to use Center for Educational Documentation (CED) for international transcript evaluation. If you are planning to apply to sit for the CPA exam, Massachusetts only accepts evaluations from CED.

Passport

If you are not a permanent resident of the United States (Green Card holder) or are a citizen of a country other than the United States and applying to a campus-based program, you must upload a scanned copy of your passport in the Documents section of your application.

If you are a permanent resident of the United States and applying to a campus-based program, you must upload a scanned copy of your green card into the Supplemental Section of your online application.

We understand that a Higher National Diploma (HND) is a significant educational achievement, typically requiring two years of full-time study. However, we do not accept an HND alone as meeting the requirement of a US bachelor's degree.

If you have an HND paired with a “top-up” degree that brings your qualifications to the equivalent of a US bachelor's, we will accept that combination.

If you wish to provide a NACES credential evaluation that indicates your HND is equivalent to a US bachelor's degree, we invite you to include your evaluation with your application. Please note that an NACES evaluation involves a fee.

If you've applied to one of our graduate business programs within the last year, you'll need to submit the following:

  • A completed application.
  • A non-refundable application fee.
  • Your updated resumé.
  • A brief essay explaining why you are re-applying. Please respond to the re-applicant prompt in your application and share any changes in your experience or qualifications since you last applied.
  • Any new transcripts or test scores you'd like to share, including GMAT, GRE, TOEFL, IBT, Duolingo, IELTS, or PTE Academic.

Please submit all admissions documents through the Application Portal. This helps us process your application more efficiently.

For more details on submitting transcripts, please refer to the FAQ, “How do I submit my official transcripts?”
