Signature experiential learning opportunities 

At D'Amore-McKim, experiential learning takes many forms. Depending on your program, you may have opportunities to work with employers and support organizations, or to apply your skills to real business challenges through experiences both inside and outside the classroom. 

Corporate residency: An MBA internship with greater impact 

For full-time MBA students, an MBA internship is often one of the most valuable components of their academic experience. D'Amore-McKim expands on the traditional MBA internship model through its corporate residency program. 

Unlike a summer MBA internship, a corporate residency can span three, six, or up to 12 months, allowing you to immerse yourself in the organization and contribute to meaningful business initiatives. Students often describe the residency as an MBA internship experience that delivers deeper responsibility, stronger employer relationships, and greater confidence in their abilities. 

For MBA student Isabel van der Veen, her corporate residency at Schneider Electric allowed her to take on real project ownership and make a meaningful impact:

Community Impact Initiative 

Business success is about more than profits. It's also about creating value for communities. 

Through the Community Impact Initiative, you'll work with a nonprofit, startup, or mission-driven organization while developing consulting, leadership, data analysis, project management, and communication skills. Open to full-time graduate students, this part-time engagement can be an individual or team effort to support organizations typically focused on creating positive social impact. 

I've been interested in consulting for some time, but my experience at D'Amore-McKim has deepened that passion and helped me take meaningful steps toward this career path. While learning about business management in class is valuable, nothing beats the insights gained from real experience. This initiative allowed me to build a client relationship and develop practical skills in a supportive environment.

Graduate co-op: Similar to an MBA internship for master's students 

Like an MBA internship, a graduate co-op at D'Amore-McKim allows students in eligible master's degree programs to apply classroom concepts in a professional environment.  Eligible students in D'Amore-McKim specialty master's programs have the option to pursue a summer graduate co-op, gaining hands-on experience while complementing their academic studies. Co-op experiences can last from five weeks up to the full summer semester and provide an opportunity to apply classroom concepts, develop professional skills, and explore career interests in a real-world environment.

My graduate co-op at Publix in Florida was a game-changer. As a financial analyst intern, I had the chance to apply what I learned in classes and through the 360 Huntington Fund to real business challenges.  At Publix, I tackled projects that made a real impact. I automated the profit and loss account, rebuilt complex Excel formulas in a new SQL database, and reduced processing time from hours to minutes.”
