Olubunmi Faleye is Senior Associate Dean of Faculty & Research and Professor of Finance at Northeastern University's D'Amore-McKim School of Business. His research focuses on how the people and institutions that influence corporations, including boards of directors, managers, investors, and employees, shape corporate decisions and ultimately affect firm performance. Much of his work seeks to answer a fundamental question in corporate finance: How do governance and control mechanisms influence the choices firms and investors make, and when do those mechanisms create or destroy value?
Professor Faleye's research has examined the effectiveness of corporate boards, leadership and control structures, managerial and employee incentives, corporate innovation, mergers and acquisitions, and hedge fund activism. His work has been published in leading academic and professional journals, including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial & Quantitative Analysis, Financial Analysts Journal, and MIT Sloan Management Review.
Professor Faleye teaches courses in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, financial strategy, and corporate governance at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He previously served as Senior Associate Dean of Faculty & Research from 2021 to 2024 and as Finance Group Chair from 2018 to 2021. He earned his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Alberta and his B.Sc. in Business Administration from the University of Lagos. He is also a CFA charterholder.
