Adonis Antoniades is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Finance group. His professional background spans finance academia, central banking, and, earlier, machine learning research.

Antoniades' research portfolio includes work in banking, law and finance, and machine learning. Recent work examines the U.S. commercial banking sector's experience during the Great Recession, providing empirical evidence on the influence of liquidity and real estate risks on bank lending and solvency. His papers in finance have been published in the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Journal of Banking and Finance, and the Journal of Economics and Business. He has also published policy research in the BIS Quarterly Review and research on machine learning in the Proceedings of the IEEE Conference on Decision and Control.

Prior to joining Northeastern University, Antoniades was an Assistant Professor of Finance at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School, where he led the core finance module in the MBA programme, while also supervising MBA students on consulting projects in the financial sector. Before joining NUS, he worked as an economist at the European Central Bank (ECB) and at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), where he contributed to policy research and briefed top-level management – including the President of the ECB and the General Manager of the BIS – on banking-related items in his portfolio. Earlier, he worked in the field of machine learning, designing pursuit-evasion and navigation algorithms for dynamic environments with partial observability.
