Watch highlights from D'Amore-McKim's first DMSB Day, an innovative event that features some of our best research ideas presented in “Shark Tank-style” pitches to esteemed alumni and corporate partner community members. It's a unique opportunity to showcase thought leadership as the school explores ways to increase its impact on the business world.

The D'Amore-McKim School of Business hosted its first-annual DMSB Day – an innovative event featuring some of our faculty's best research ideas, presenting them in short, dynamic “Shark Tank-style” pitches to esteemed alumni and corporate partner community members. It was a unique opportunity to showcase thought leadership as the school explores ways to increase its impact on the business world.

“This is really, for me, a dream. It's something I envisioned when I first started in the summer of 2023. That dream was to really make our business school and Northeastern University a gateway to business, a gateway to what is happening out there in the corporate world,” says Dunton Family Dean David De Cremer. “As an established business school and university that emphasizes experiential learning, our students go out there, work hard, are motivated, and (our thought leaders) need to go out there as well. That's the philosophy behind DMSB Day: bringing two communities together.”

Presenting faculty represented a range of departments, areas of expertise, and industry experience, and our esteemed volunteer judges have years of various industry experience and a commitment to seeing D'Amore-McKim succeed. A complete list of all presenters, their abstracts, and the judges and their bios can be found on our DMSB Day program webpage.

Congratulations to the top three pitchers selected by our 17 esteemed judges: John Bai, Nicole Boyson, and Udi Hoitash.

Some thoughts from our judges about the experience

DMSB Day should be must-see TV for the Northeastern community, and corporate and non-profit leaders near and far.
David Behenna

(It was an) amazing concept (with) extraordinarily talented professors. (The) pitches were practical in nature and were solving real-life situations.
Vivek Sharma

DMSB day bridged the gap between the classroom and the boardroom. (It's) important for students to understand the difference. DMSB Day helped us learn some of what we do not know, and the day introduced us… to the extraordinary group of DMSB instructors the students have access to on a daily basis.
Ron Caplan

(It was a) great mechanism to build connections between academics and business leaders – a solid start to what can be a powerful ongoing mechanism. Love the idea of exposing academics to what makes sense in the real world.
Mark Vachon
