As many of you now know, Northeastern announced the creation of the Roux Institute in Portland, Maine last week. Made possible through an inspirational initial gift of $100 million from Dave and Barbara Roux, the Roux Institute will focus on experiential AI and building an innovation ecosystem for cutting-edge digital and life sciences research. By doing so, the Roux Institute will serve as an engine of innovation, talent, and economic growth in Portland, the state of Maine, and northern New England. Ten corporate employers have already signed on to the project to work with us on both research and training in order to build an agile workforce for the region. Of all our campus nodes, Portland is the first campus to integrate education and research together right from the start. Below my signature, I'm sharing News@Northeastern media pieces from the Roux Institute launch for more information.

For D'Amore-McKim, the opportunities are boundless.

Our vision of digital convergence is highly aligned with a key mission of the Roux Institute to develop and help digital businesses. We have opportunities to provide quality education and experiential engagement in high-growth fields including analytics, entrepreneurship, and fintech, while also working with employers on their upskilling and re-skilling needs. In addition, our faculty will have opportunities to work with their peers from other disciplines on cutting-edge research partnerships in order to drive growth.

I look forward to working with our community as we find innovative ways to leverage this exceptional new Northeastern asset.
