The annual Student Life Awards honor students and organizations that have exceeded expectations during the past year.

The four D'Amore-McKim Student Life Awards winners are:

Amina Azmat, DMSB'19, Matthew Shepard and Morris S. Kay Scholarship

The Matthew Shepard and Morris S. Kay Scholarship honors the memory of Matthew Shepard, a gay youth whose 1998 death was the result of a brutal hate crime. This scholarship honors students who actively work for gay, lesbian and LGBTQA justice issues or other social justice issues.

Miranda Beggin, DMSB'17, Outstanding Co-op Award for 2017

The Cooperative Education Awards were established in 1971 to spotlight outstanding seniors in the co-op program.

Tiffany ChaoDMSB'19, Charles Havice Scholarship

The Charles Havice Scholarship honors the memory of Charles Havice, Dean of Chapel. The scholarship recognizes the contributions of participants in student activities who have proven leadership abilities.

David Iken, DMSB'18, Richard Cardinal Cushing Scholarship

Established in 1978, The Richard Cardinal Cushing Award honors up to three students of the Catholic, Protestant and Jewish faith “who embody the principles of brotherhood and justice and who, through their work on campus, have become positive forces for religious understanding.”

Northeastern University's seventh annual Academic Honors Convocation

In a separate awards ceremony, held Thursday, April 20, four members of the D'Amore-McKim School of Business were recognized for their research, scholarship, mentoring, service and life-changing global experiences that enhance Northeastern's community during the seventh annual Academic Honors Convocation.

The four D'Amore-McKim winners are:

Ravi RamamurtiUniversity Distinguished Professor

Appointment to the rank of University Distinguished Professor is the highest honor Northeastern bestows upon faculty members. It is awarded to those who have made a transformative impact in their field, whether in educational, scholarly or artistic contributions.

Terrell Hunt, DMSB'13, Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Fellowship

A 2017 Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Fellowship was awarded to Terrell Hunt, DMSB'13. The fellowship program is funded by the U.S. Department of State for those interested in pursuing a career as a Foreign Service officer. Hunt was one of just 30 people nationwide to receive the Fellowship.

Miranda Beggin, DMSB'17, Critical Language Scholarship

The Critical Language Scholarship Program is a part of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and provides undergraduate students the opportunity to pursue intensive language immersion studies overseas. Beggin was also given a 2017 Outstanding Co-op Award and was featured on the Poets&Quants ‘Best and Brightest Business Majors – Class of 2017 list.

Tsun Wai Fu, DMSB'19, Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is an award sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, to fund a study abroad experience in Summer 2016. Fu enrolled at the London School of Economics and Political Science's Summer School program.

The Herbert Gallagher Award is presented annually to the top male scholar-athlete for their academic and athletic achievements.

Chanda Gunn Community Service Award

The Chanda Gunn Community Service Award recognizes a current female student athlete who has shown a constant and dedicated passion for community service.

The Dr. Phil Johnston Community Service Award recognizes a current female student athlete who has shown a constant and dedicated passion for community service.

Jonathan Thuresson, DMSB'17, Northeastern Men's soccer

Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS) Student-Athletes of the Year

Given to two athletes this year, the Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS) Student-Athletes of the Year award is presented to those who embody strong academic achievement, excellence in leadership and commitment to being the best student-athlete, on and off the field.
