Crossing borders and embracing new perspectives have defined the academic journey of Brenda Belgamo, DMSB '26, who is passionate about global learning. Originally from Brazil, Belgamo's passion for learning across borders began when she moved to the United States for high school. There, she gained a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and adaptability.
This desire to continue learning from global perspectives brought her to D'Amore-McKim, where she found a unique academic environment encouraging personal, professional, and educational growth.
During her first year, Belgamo participated in the NU London Scholars Program. She immersed herself in the city's rich history while forging lasting friendships with a close-knit group of peers. This international experience laid the foundation for her approach to problem-solving and collaboration, preparing her to tackle global challenges confidently.
Belgamo continued expanding her worldview with a Dialogue of Civilizations program in Egypt and Turkey. She studied international affairs and Middle Eastern politics, gaining first-hand insights into regional issues through discussions with local professors and students.
On campus, Belgamo finds various ways to stay engaged. For instance, she recently volunteered at the 2024 Global Sustainability Summit sponsored by the Center for Emerging Markets. Her takeover on Instagram showed her engagement at the summit and interactions with various global sustainability leaders.
Alongside her volunteer work, she has been an active member of Northeastern's Brazilian Student Association (BRASA), serving as the publicity and marketing chair. Her leadership in BRASA has helped foster a strong community, offering a home away from home for Brazilian students while promoting professional growth through networking and cultural events.
Belgamo's dedication to staying connected to her roots and giving back to her community has been a central part of her university experience.
Looking ahead, she is excited to build on her experiences at Northeastern and through her co-op at Insulet, where she works in Human Resources under the University Relations team. She's passionate about making a positive impact in people's lives through her work, and she's eager to explore a career path that combines her interests in human resources, marketing, and product innovation.
