Q:What are you studying at the D'Amore-McKim School of Business and when do you plan to graduate?

A:I studied Business Administration for International Students. It is a Graduate Certificate program. I graduated in May 2017.

Q:What skills are you building at D'Amore-McKim that you will use in your future career?

A:This program has helped me to gain a much broader approach towards international business. More importantly, studying with a class full of people from different countries, has helped me to gain insight into global cultures. That eventually led me to learn a lot more to bring different sets of experiences to the classroom debates. In last eight months, I have become more confident in informed decision making from a business perspective. This program has taught me how to be competitive and collaborative at the same time which I think is a very important lesson for my future career.

Q:Why did you choose D'Amore-McKim?

A:At this point of my career, I wanted a comprehensive management program with global exposure, but dedicating two years for an MBA was a little difficult. D'Amore-McKim School of Business's eight-month graduate certificate program designed for international students was the perfect match for what I needed. The course curriculum is designed so that the students get a holistic approach towards business management. This graduate certificate from a highly ranked university was an opportunity for me to refine and expand my current skill sets and have impact on my career. Also I knew living in Boston, a city known for high quality of education system and renowned universities, would be a great experience for me to continue my education.

Q:What would you say to a prospective student considering D'Amore-McKim for their business degree?

A:I would say this program is the best option for you if you are not sure about getting a full term postgraduate degree. Besides having a comprehensive management knowledge, you will have an excellent network of professors and alumni from all over the world. The professors do not just teach you but help you to learn skills to last for lifetime. The program requires hard work and dedication, but you will get a fun filled learning experience. Moreover, the graduate certificate program will help you to decide your future career path, build business acumen and there are several options to chose from i.e. OPT (Optional Practical Training), a job or business in your home country, part-time/full time MBA.

Q:Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?

A:I would like to work as a Management Consultant in a multinational consulting firm, in service lines like human capital, technology and specialised practice offerings of education. By working in a firm for five to seven years, I will gain experience of business and resource issues, financial requirements, governance and the tax and regulatory environment in the Education space, and will be able to build key business relationships.

In ten years, I plan to start my own technology driven start-up in the primary education sector, ideally based in my home country. My initiative will be part of digitization initiative with the vision to transform the education sector in the country into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. I believe through best possible use of technology and my management skills, I will be able to reach millions of kids in rural areas across the country and provide them the cheapest, finest and best in class education system.

Q:How has D'Amore-McKim helped you become more?

A:D'Amore-McKim has given me a strong network of alumni and professors across the globe. The high class-participation based learning has helped me to confidently express my ideas and overcome hesitations. I have always had a passion for creating a start-up, and after completing the program, my business ideas are now more reality-centric and innovation driven.
