Application deadlines

You must meet with your undergraduate academic advisor before submitting an application—ideally during your sophomore year or first term as a junior. Careful curriculum planning is essential to ensure you're eligible and ready to start your master's-level coursework. Please note: Applications are ideally received in November or January.

Program details

Our PlusOne MS in Finance program is designed for ambitious, academically outstanding students who want to accelerate their career in the field. The program allows you to take up to 15 graduate credits during your senior year and apply those credits toward both your bachelor's and master's degrees.

Prior to the Fall start of your senior year as an undergraduate, you must complete the following courses:

Finance concentration students:

  • FINA 3301 – Corporate Finance
  • FINA 3303 – Investments

Fintech concentration students:

  • FINA 3301 or 3303
  • FINA 4335 – Computational Methods and Their Applications in Finance

In your Fall term as a senior, you may take the following graduate-level courses and ‘double count' them toward both your bachelor's and master's degrees.

  • FINA 6202 – Analysis of Financial Institutions & Markets
  • FINA 6204 – International Finance Management
  • Up to 3 graduate-level finance electives

Examples of electives you may choose:

  • FINA 6207 – Financial Modeling
  • FINA 6212 – Fixed Income Securities & Risk
  • FINA 6214 – Mergers & Acquisitions
  • FINA 6216 – Valuation & Value Creation
  • FINA 6217 – Real Estate Finance & Investment

After graduating in December, you'll complete the following to earn your MS in Finance:

PlusOne advantages

Northeastern's PlusOne program lets you take up to 15 graduate credits during your senior year while still enrolled as an undergraduate. These credits are double-counted toward both your bachelor's and master's degrees—saving you time and money. You'll pay the lower undergraduate tuition rate for these graduate courses, then complete your remaining master's coursework in a single post-bachelor's term as a graduate student.

Application steps

  1. Discuss your plans with an academic advisor to ensure all prerequisites have been satisfied.
  2. Create a new account for PlusOne in Finance by completing the PlusOne Inquiry Form.
  3. You will receive an email with a link to the PlusOne application; further instructions will be provided.
  4. Once your application is underway, select “Program – PlusOne in Finance, Entry Term – Fall”.
  5. Complete the application and submit when ready.
