Q:What do you do in your current job? What are your responsibilities?

A:I'm a Lead Tax Accountant at The Boston Consulting Group, Inc. a management consulting firm with 85 offices in 48 countries. My primary responsibilities are Federal and State Compliance. The Federal compliance include preparation of the year end federal provision, calculation of earnings and profits for the different subsidiaries, calculation of Subpart F Income for the Controlled Foreign Corporations and Section 956 Investment of Earnings in United States Property. I assist my Line Manager with overall review of Federal Forms 1120, 5471, 8858, 8865 and 1120-F, prepare disclosures and statements to be attached to the Consolidated Federal 1120 and support with Federal and State Tax Audits. The State compliance includes preparation of state returns and annual reports in over 30 states.

Q:What skills did you build in the D'Amore-McKim MST program that you are applying at your current job?

A:I've learned so much from each one of the classes that I've taken while working towards my MST, but the skill that really helped me to improve my effectiveness and efficiency is tax research. I use this skill every day at work to keep up with all the changes in laws at the federal and state level. Also, the Corporate and International Taxation classes gave me the ability to understand better the implications and compliance requirements for the transactions with international subsidiaries.

Q:What would you say to a colleague considering enrolling in the MST program?

A:I recommend this program to my colleagues, because you can start implementing all the knowledge that you acquire in your daily routine at work and since tax laws are constantly changing, the program teaches you how to stay current with the new laws and regulations.

Q:Why did you choose the D'Amore-McKim MST?

A:I chose the D'Amore-McKim MST because of the quality of the program and the level of experience of the faculty and staff. Also, this program was highly recommended by one of my colleagues who completed the program.

Q:Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?

A:I see myself in a Tax Manager position overseeing the Federal and State compliance.
