Q: What skills are you building in the D’Amore-McKim MS in Accounting/MBA program that you will use in your future career?
A: Not only am I pushing my technical knowledge to a new level, I also am gaining the ability to synthesize the technical details with broader principles. This is important for evaluating any and all considerations in potentially controversial areas of accounting. Because of the rigor of the program, my ability to prioritize and work efficiently has increased significantly. I’ve learned when to draw the line on one task and move on to the next, without sacrificing the quality of my work. I am also becoming a more confident presenter.
Q: What would you say to a colleague considering enrolling in the MS in Accounting/MBA program?
A: If you are excited about accounting and ready to work hard, absolutely enroll! You will meet and work with so many great people, from your classmates and professors, to the people at the accounting firms, to guest speakers. The whole experience is very rewarding and the program has a great track record of setting its graduates up for success. You can’t beat the industry connections and the internship placement process!
Q: Why did you choose the D’Amore-McKim MS in Accounting/MBA?
A: I chose the D’Amore-McKim MSA/MBA because of the accelerated pace, the dual degree, and the solid industry connections. The MSA/MBA is set up for students like me, with a liberal arts background, to jump right in and hit the ground running. The networking events and firm visits throughout the first summer present incredible opportunities. The internship is a sure-fire way to jumpstart your career. The dual degree gives you the credentials you need for long-term success.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?
A: In 5 years I see myself having chosen an industry to specialize in and reaching audit manager level. I also hope to be have benefited from a rotation abroad in London by that point.
