Why minor in Entrepreneurial Startups?

  • Build entrepreneurial skills: This interdisciplinary minor is designed to guide students from any program or area of study through the startup process, preparing you to start your own venture.
  • Specialize your minor: Choose from a variety of electives—selected from the College of Arts, Media and Design; College of Engineering; and the Khoury College of Computer Sciences—to specialize your path based on your goals.
  • Gain practical experience: You'll work with interdisciplinary teams to develop business plans, giving you experience in innovation, marketing, and business modeling.

Program options

This interdisciplinary minor guides students through the startup process and prepares students from any background or area of study to conceptualize, launch, manage, and grow a new business.

Required coursework introduces the innovation process across organizational contexts, helping students understand how creative ideas evolve into commercially viable products and services.

Electives help students build the skills needed to launch and grow new ventures, with options focused on startup marketing, business model innovation, design thinking, and product development—alongside interdisciplinary courses that explore entrepreneurship across tech, design, and global contexts.

  • To declare a minor, you need to be a full-time undergraduate student with a minimum 2.0 GPA 
  • To graduate with a minor, you must attain a 2.0 GPA in courses taken for the minor
  • No classes for the minor can be taken as pass/fail
