Sarah Woodside is an Associate Teaching Professor and Assistant Chair in the Management and Organizational Development group at Northeastern University's D'Amore-McKim School of Business. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology with a focus on negotiation and social entrepreneurship from Boston College; an M.A. in Dispute Resolution from the University of Massachusetts Boston; and a B.A. in Political Science and Middle East Studies from McGill University.
Prior to joining Northeastern, Professor Woodside worked at the Program on Negotiation (PON) at Harvard Law School, where she supported graduate and Executive Education negotiation trainings and designed simulations. She also previously taught at Babson College and Canisius College. Early professional experiences include roles in peace and disarmament research at United Nations-affiliated non-governmental organizations.
Professor Woodside's research focuses on how organizations negotiate the challenges between balancing a social mission and market demands. Her recent scholarship includes research on navigating high stakes conversations, student consulting projects using Agile, and communities of practice. Her work has appeared in INFORMS Transactions on Education, Journal of Management Education, Social Enterprise Journal, and Theory Into Practice. She has presented at national and international conferences, including the Management and Organizational Behavior Teaching Society (MOBTS), EMES International Research Conference, and the American Sociological Association.
She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Management and Organizational Behavior Teaching Society (MOBTS). She teaches courses in organizational behavior and negotiation at the undergraduate and MBA levels, drawing on two decades of experience teaching negotiation and conflict resolution across universities, executive programs, and professional organizations.
Professor Woodside received the 2024 Teaching Innovation Award from the D'Amore-McKim School of Business.
