Sangah Bae is an Assistant Professor of Management and Organizational Development at Northeastern University’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business, with a joint appointment in Communication Studies in the College of Arts, Media and Design. She earned her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Cornell University’s ILR School, an M.S. in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University, and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Seoul.
Dr. Bae’s research examines how people use—and misuse—social cues in the workplace, with a focus on how these cues shape managerial decision-making, technology adoption, and equity in organizations. Her work explores topics such as how managers’ social approval concerns influence task allocation, how social class background affects help-seeking and mentorship, and how emerging technologies like generative AI send unintended signals depending on the user’s background. Her research has been published in leading journals, including the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, and has been recognized with multiple competitive research grants and awards.
Before academia, Dr. Bae spent about a decade in the marketing and analytics industry, leading global campaigns.
