Magda Cooney is a full-time Lecturer at the D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University, where she currently teaches undergraduate courses in Marketing, including Introduction to Marketing and Brand Management. She also serves as the Co-op Faculty Lead for the Oakland campus, helping connect students with meaningful experiential learning opportunities in the Bay Area and beyond.
Prior to her faculty appointment, Cooney served as Director of the Center for Transformative Action (CTA) at Mills College at Northeastern, where she led interdisciplinary programming at the intersection of social impact, innovation, and community partnerships. Her work there focused on amplifying civic engagement, fostering inclusive entrepreneurship, and designing student-centered experiential learning models.
Cooney’s teaching interests span brand strategy, digital marketing, marketing communications, organizational behavior, and human resources management. She brings to the classroom over fifteen years of professional experience across nonprofit leadership, public-private partnerships, and global education programs. She has worked closely with cross-sector organizations on strategic growth initiatives, brand positioning, and communications—experience that informs her case-based and applied teaching style.
She has also organized and co-hosted industry and community-driven conferences that connect students with thought leaders and practitioners in marketing, entrepreneurship, sports business, and public policy.
In all her roles, Cooney leverages her background in marketing, human resources, PR, and higher education leadership to create learning experiences that connect theory with practice and prepare students to succeed in complex, evolving professional environments.
