George Rutherford works to engage Northeastern alumni, parents, and friends with the goal of inspiring them to get involved with and support the university and specifically the D'Amore-McKim School of Business. He joined Northeastern in July 2022 after a successful 15-year career with the University of Vermont (UVM) and the University of Vermont Foundation. At UVM, he started in Alumni Relations, transitioned to the Annual Fund, and ultimately served as Director of Major Gifts for the College of Arts & Sciences. In addition to his development work, he is committed to creating positive social change in the world and was actively involved in DEI initiatives while at UVM. Early in his career, he served as a United States Peace Corps volunteer in the Democratic Republic of Congo and later as a Peace Corps recruiter.

Originally from California, George earned a BA in public administration from San Diego State University.
