Doug Lowenstein has over 25 years of FinTech and consumer financial services experience. He brings a rare combination of more than ten years of high impact corporate strategy experience at a top ten bank combined with extensive entrepreneurial experience including building, advising, investing in, and board leadership of FinTech start-ups.

Early in his career, Lowenstein spent three years at Advent International, a leading private equity firm, and another three years as a strategy consultant at Corporate Decisions (now Oliver Wyman). He then spent more than 11 years with Capital One as a senior strategy executive. At Capital One, Lowenstein led a wide variety of high impact strategy and corporate development initiatives working directly with Capital One’s CEO or other Executive Committee members on issues at the enterprise, line-of-business, and functional levels. He also served as head of Strategy and was a member of the senior leadership team for Capital One's Global Financial Services (GFS) division. GFS was a portfolio of smaller diversified business lines including Small Business, National Direct Deposits, Installment Loans, Point of Sale Finance, Home Equity, and international business lines. He also led the strategy development for corporate acquisitions and/or investments in the banking, auto finance, and home equity industries. Lowenstein also spent time working directly with North Hill Ventures, Capital One’s captive FinTech venture fund including leading investment transactions and participating on the board of two companies.

Lowenstein has spent the past ten years building start-ups in the FinTech space. At SimpleTuition, a student loan marketplace now owned by Lending Tree, he developed a brand new line of business that was a rewards program that automatically helped pay down the student loans of its members. The program included an integrated bank account with a debit rewards card and allowed members to earn rewards via an online shopping portal or taking surveys. In 2014, Lowenstein was Employee #2 and Chief Operating Officer at Gradifi. Gradifi is the leading education finance employee benefits platform that enables employers to offer student loan pay down contributions, 529 plan contributions, and a student loan refinance marketplace to their employees. Gradifi was acquired by First Republic Bank in 2016 and later sold to E*Trade in 2019.
