Dr. Curtis Odom is an Associate Teaching Professor of Management and Organizational Development, a Senior Member of the Forbes Coaches Council, and a Harvard Business Review Advisory Council member. Professor Odom is also a fractional executive, best-selling author, ICF professional certified coach, and former Fortune 50 executive who consults and coaches from his experience of getting results. Educated as a scholar-practitioner at Pepperdine, Professor Odom’s experience as a management consultant informs both his research and teaching styles. His teaching philosophy draws from years of consulting work using case analyses, group discussions, podcasts, immersive simulations, generative AI, gamification, and competitive play. Professor Odom believes learning should be experiential and participant-centered and seeks to motivate, inspire, and instill in his students a sense of ownership of their learning journey. His dynamic teaching style displays his passion for teaching, which engages his students in candid dialogue on how to play the workforce culture game and win. His ability to connect academic content to workplace and workforce context is born of a 20-year industry career as a corporate executive, entrepreneur, management consultant, and executive coach. Before his industry and academic career, Professor Odom served on active duty for 10 years in the United States Navy, including combat deployment during Operation Desert Storm.
