From September 3-10, 2016, Northeastern University welcomed its newest Huskies to campus in a week of events and activities to meet and get to know each other and their new community.

Here are a few moments welcoming our D'Amore-McKim students throughout the week:

At the President's Convocation on Tuesday, Sept. 6, Neel Desai, SSH'17, and CEO of Northeastern's venture accelerator, IDEA, talked about the opportunities and getting involved on campus that will be of great benefit to their student experiences. “Be deliberate about your learning,” he said.

Dean Hugh Courtney spoke to the new class of D'Amore-McKim students at the College Welcome event and focused on innovation.

“Keep your eyes and ears open. You may not think you're an entrepreneur, but this place is very exciting for creating something new,” he said.

What's the Welcome Week experience like for new international business major, Forest Hallee? “So far I like it! I've seen so much and met some cool people already,” he said. “I'm an international business major, Spanish track. I decided to come here for the co-op program.” Hallee, who is originally from Andover and lived for a year in Spain, said he was excited to begin classes.

The BS International Business program (BSIB degree) was created in 1994 to enable undergraduate students to experience first-hand cultural immersion and learning in a host country. By doing so, students gain real experience in a global marketplace, something they need to succeed with a business degree.

After the D'Amore-McKim College Welcome, students stood outside of Ell Hall, wearing their convocation t-shirts. Who does this student want to be? Confident.

Students at Fall Fest on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, enjoyed a “Taste of Boston” featuring foods from around the city and learned about the wide-array of opportunities to get involved on-campus.

On Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, student leaders set up for the D'Amore-McKim Involvement Fair on Krentzman Quad, showcasing groups such as IDEA, Northeastern's student-led venture accelerator, and NUMA, Northeastern's Marketing Association.
