First-year students in Smith and Kennedy halls met this past week for a Thanksgiving meal, using some of the time to write out 84 thank-you cards to Northeastern faculty and staff members for all their hard work and dedication.

The Hall Council of both residential dorms organized the campaign to recognize faculty and staff members who go above and beyond their job roles, something they might not always get credit for at the time.

“This program served as a way for students to show their appreciation for the unsung heroes around campus, without whom our university would not function,” said Camron Rivera, S'21.

Lauren Parker, an academic advisor in the D'Amore-McKim School of Business received two letters from a group of students in the personal skills development course she's leading this semester. Parker has been an academic advisor for D'Amore-McKim the past three years.

“It made me really happy that I work here,” Parker said. “It made me feel appreciated and that I had made a strong connection with these students.”

Many other places on campus received thank you cards as well, including the Northeastern Police Department and Rebecca's Café.
