Q: What did you do during your residency/what were your responsibilities?
A: My corporate residency as a part of the Investment Services team included a wide range of responsibilities. The operational oversight for the boutique clients was at the core of my daily workload. I focused primarily on the trade support, cash reconciliation, and responding to complex client inquiries and processing issues. In addition to that, I executed daily NAV review and dissemination and finalized daily fund reports for selected clients. Moreover, I was offered an opportunity to take an active role in several internal consulting projects, which enriched my contribution to the team and took the overall residency experience to a higher level.
Q: What skills did you build in the D’Amore-McKim MBA Finance concentrawtion that you applied at your residency job?
A: The D’Amore-McKim MBA program is a great place to develop both soft and technical skills. I was able to enrich my international background with a thorough understanding of important concepts in such business areas as marketing, finance, supply chain management and strategy. Moreover, I improved my ability to perform well as a team player, work with limited information and strict deadlines, and communicate effectively across various internal and external teams.
Q: Would you say to a colleague considering enrolling in the D’Amore-McKim MBA Finance concentration?
A: Enrolling to the MBA program may be one of the most important decisions in a person’s life. It is definitely not an easy path and requires a lot of time and effort, but the pay-off is priceless. The D’Amore-McKim MBA program offers a tremendous number of learning resources as well as networking opportunities to elevate candidates’ careers.
Q: Why did you choose the D’Amore-McKim MBA Finance concentration?
A: I represent both an international student and a career changer. It means that getting U.S.-based experience relevant to my current field of interest is crucial for my future career. Thus, corporate residency was the main differentiator for my final choice. The other reasons include a convenient location in Boston, solid university rankings and reputation, and favorable reviews from students and employers.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?
A: I see myself as a professional with reputable expertise in the financial services field. I also see myself managing a team of like-minded and results-oriented people who provide solutions to complex economic/financial issues.
