Q:What skills are you building in the D'Amore-McKim MSA program that you will use in your future career?

A:The MSA program has allowed me to explore the accounting in a much deeper way. Every course is structured around open discussion that leads to a better understanding of the concepts. We are given opportunities to stand up and present our views and debate when those views are challenged. The majority of our projects are done in teams where strong communication is necessary to complete the task at hand. The focus on communication and presentation has given me the skill and the confidence which has already helped me in interviews and undoubtedly will continue to help me as my career progresses.

Q:What would you say to a colleague considering enrolling in the MSA program?

A:I would tell them about my great experience, how I was challenged in every course and how our great team of professors encourage us to go beyond what we read in the textbooks and take our knowledge into the real world. We learn to analyze current events and how the changing business landscapes will affect ourselves and the world. At D'Amore-McKim, there is a drive for every student to find a career path that is right for them and for all students within the MSA program to pass the CPA exam during the program or soon after.

Q:Why did you choose the D'Amore-McKim MSA?

A:I chose the D'Amore-McKim MSA program due to the rapid nature of the program and the sterling reputation of Northeastern University and the D'Amore-Mckim School of Business. Many other MSA programs take a year or longer to complete so I was thrilled to find a program that would allow me to start my career after only six months. D'Amore-McKim is well known for its career centered focus and I have found it to exceed my expectations.

Q:What has been your biggest take-away from earning your MSA at Northeastern so far?

A:My biggest takeaway so far has been the sense of community felt amongst the students in the program. We are all facing the same challenges and that has brought us together in a common bond. We end up spending entire days together through class, studying and relaxing on our breaks. We help each other by keeping our focus on graduation and our eventual careers. We are all at different stages and we can all learn from one another's experiences, these bonds I have formed are my favorite takeaway from the program. I know we will all find success and I am proud to have had the opportunity to learn and grow amongst an amazing group of people.

Q:Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?

A:In 5 to 10 years, I hope to be a manager well on my way to partner at my firm. I could see myself moving into a consulting role if the right opportunity arose but for now, I see myself becoming a leader at my firm.
