Q:Where is your hometown?

A:I come from a small city in southern Ghana called Tema, about an hour from Accra, the capital city.

Q:What skills are you building that you will use in your future career?

A:The opportunity to look at problems in a multifaceted way, developed in class by the case study method, has been a great addition to my skillset. I am better able to approach business problems with frameworks that make it easier to tackle the problems and develop solutions.

I have built skills in data analytics, financial analysis, and strategy that will be useful in any role in my career. Studying for this MBA has given me the tools to understand business processes and strategy. The Wall Street Journal also makes for much more interesting reading now.

Q:What did you do in your corporate residency? What were your responsibilities? How did you impact the business?

A:I worked at State Street Corporation for my residency within their Global Procurement Services department. As a business analyst, my projects revolved around spend and savings analytics, RFx and contract management, as well as vendor lifecycle management.

Q:How did your experiences prepare you for your future career?

A:The sheer talent and diversity of experience within the MBA program is remarkable. I've learned a lot from my peers in learning teams, classes, and outside the classroom.

The experience working with diverse teams on coursework, operating in a corporate environment during my residency, and fulfilling rigorous academic requirements in my classes has provided me with analytical hard-skills as well as soft-skills that will enable me to thrive in my future career.

Q:What has been your most valuable experience so far at D'Amore-McKim?

A:The most valuable experience at D'Amore-McKim was definitely the corporate residency, where I had the opportunity to apply the classroom principles to real-life problems within a firm. This experience solidified the classroom subject matter and deepened the learning experience for me.

Q:Why did you choose D'Amore-McKim?

A:The corporate residency at D'Amore-McKim was the critical factor for me. No other university offered a comparable option that would enable a career-switcher like myself to gain 6 months to a year of applicable work experience while at the same time working towards the completion of an MBA.

Q:What would you say to a prospective student considering D'Amore-McKim for their business degree?

A:This is going to be a great experience. Take advantage of every opportunity you are given, and learn a lot from your professors and peers.

One of the most valuable experiences in the MBA has been working in learning teams. It has been truly incredible and humbling to be able to learn from my peers and to access their work experiences and knowledge in working towards solving problems.

Q:Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?

A:I see myself working in data analytics for a technology or financial institution, building further expertise in capturing and harvesting data for better decision-making.
