Q:What are you studying at the D'Amore-McKim School of Business and when do you plan to graduate?

A:I completed a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration in Summer 2017 with the intent to continue pursuing a Part-Time MBA beginning in Fall 2018.

Q:What skills are you building at D'Amore-McKim that you will use in your future career?

A:I am developing the skills necessary to excel in strategic management and problem solving. This is critical because in the ever-evolving business environment, I want to be able to operate in and manage all the possible domains from Production to Marketing. Strengthening my leadership and managerial skills is also very important to me, and is something D'Amore-McKim is helping me to achieve.

Q:Why did you choose D'Amore-McKim?

A:After my undergraduate studies, my intention was to start an MBA immediately, but I changed my mind after attending a D'Amore-McKim Information Session and learning about the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration. As an international student with little knowledge of operations within U.S. based companies, I realized it would make more sense to start with a five-course program that would give me both relevant business experience and a credential right away. The fact that the five classes offered are from the Part-Time MBA curriculum and are eligible to be applied to the masters program really motivated me as well.

Q:What would you say to a prospective student considering D'Amore-McKim for their business degree?

A:When it comes to your career, you should seize opportunities and avoid mistakes. Choosing the D'Amore-McKim certificate program was one of the best choices I have made. The campus offers many resources, including a diverse community and professors that are always available to listen, talk, and help. I spent my two terms working on case studies based on real companies and situations. At a certain point it began to feel like working in a company rather than studying.

Q:Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?

A:Running my own businesses! One of my dreams is to offer my expertise to emerging and developing countries and contribute to the improvement of their business climate, enabling them to improve their positions in global rankings.

Q:How has D'Amore-McKim helped you become more?

A:I am currently working in one of the world's top global SaaS companies, headquartered in Boston. This isn't something I expected to happen so quickly, but the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration gave me the opportunity to add experience to my resume. At this job, I am gaining experience in communication, sales, and IT all in once. It has been a wonderful and interesting experience.

Q:Do you participate in any student clubs?

A:In my Entrepreneurship class we were asked to come up with a new business idea. My project team for this assignment decided to take this challenge to the next level, so we brought our new venture to IDEA, the Northeastern University student-led venture accelerator. We hope to be launching soon! We are still at the very early stages, but the IDEA team is really helpful. They have offered us help with writing our business plan, making pitches, and eventually they will help us find investors.
