Q:What skills did you build in the D'Amore-McKim MS in Innovation program that you are applying at your current job?
A:The MS in Innovation helped me build the confidence and business acumen necessary to present project proposals to our senior leadership team in the context of our business goal. I am now able to be more concise and simplify complex ideas during these presentations. I am also more data-driven when making decisions through the use of metrics captured from customers. Ultimately, with all of my responsibilities, I am able to see my work more clearly in the context of the business goal.
Q:What would you say to a colleague considering enrolling in the MS in Innovation program?
A:The MS in Innovation is a great program if you want to complement a technical bachelor's degree with a graduate degree that teaches how to understand the market and customers, how to run a company more effectively, and how to spark innovation in existing companies. The MSI also provides easy access to a brilliant alumni network of students and professors who are well-connected with industry leaders, and can help you meet your career goals.
Q:Why did you choose the D'Amore-McKim MSI?
A:I chose the D'Amore-McKim MSI because the curriculum covered a wide range of topics, traditionally not found in MBA programs. I felt that the MSI curriculum was more modern, relevant, and crucial to staying on top of industry trends through rapid innovation. The curriculum, coupled with the program's focus on experiential learning appealed to me the most.
Q:What was your biggest take-away from earning your MSI at Northeastern?
A:My biggest takeaway from the MSI program is that with all if its strengths and relevance, this degree will arm me with frameworks, real-life examples, and ways to think critically. Each situation I will encounter in my career will be unique. The MSI program provided a set of tools that I can depend on to react to unpredictable changes or be on top of predictable changes in the industry.
Q:Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?
A:I see myself in a leadership position in an existing company or my own company, where I will be able to effectively utilize the knowledge I gained from the D'Amore-McKim MSI program.
