Q: What skills are you building at D'Amore-McKim that you will use in your future career?

A: I have learnt many useful skills during this program. The class Doing Business in Emerging Markets has provided me a big picture of the economy in different types of emerging markets, including the challenges and opportunities that each firm has to consider to form an elaborate strategy before entering these markets. By working in consulting projects, I realized that how complex a real world is and how a macro-environment can heavily affect companies in ways that they often fail to pay attention to. Meanwhile, the Global Leadership class has equipped me for being an effective leader in a global context. By working in a diverse group, I was able to develop a global mindset, confidently make decisions on my own, develop an international outlook, and think and act as a leader. Some are examples of this are how to engage and motivate people, how to leverage your network, how to overcome resistance to change, etc. I believe these skills are helpful for my future career, as a manager.

Q: Why did you choose D'Amore-McKim?

A: I choose D'Amore-McKim for some reasons. First, what brings me to the school is its reputation and its quality. I heard of it from my friends who are currently Northeastern students and they all gave me positive reviews. Second, the variety of programs the school offers attracted me. For those like me whose majors are not business, a short program that can provide practical training and theoretical knowledge would be the best choice. And D'Amore-McKim has all the things that I needed. The course curriculum, small classes, dedicated professors, kind and diverse classmates, and the OPT opportunity all have supported me to improve academically and practically.

The more preparation and knowledge you are equipped with, the closer you are to the success. This program will provide you not only an extensive network of classmates from many countries but also a job opportunity (OPT) in a company in the US where you may apply what you learned in school.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?

A: Five years down the road I see myself working as a Project Manager in a global IT firm where I can have opportunities to develop my technology and management skills, take on innovative and interesting projects, and work with many creative people. In the next 5 years later, I hope I will assume more management responsibilities and will be able to get heavily involved in whole product development cycle, so I may able to grow into a Business Product Development Manager in ten years.
