Dencker brings his expertise in entrepreneurship, labor markets, and organizational restructuring to a number of industries with a focus on the energy sector.

His research examines the effects of corporate restructuring on the employment relationship, public policy programs designed to help the unemployed transition into entrepreneurship, and generational dynamics in the workplace.

He is a recipient of the “IDEA Thought Leader Award” from the Academy of Management and sits on the editorial boards of the Academy of Management Journal and Administrative Science Quarterly.

Dencker's ongoing research examines necessity entrepreneurship and the relationship between race and employment.

I examine the effects of corporate restructuring on the employment relationship, public policy programs designed to help the unemployed transition to self-employment (entrepreneurship), generational dynamics in the workplace, and causes and consequences of domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions.
