Tanner Elvidge, DMSB'17, was the first associate at _Underscore.VC, a venture capital firm that focuses on entrepreneurial support through cloud intelligence, based in Boston, MA. Elvidge obtained this position through Northeastern's commitment to experiential learning and co-op experiences, enabling students to gain firsthand experience in a myriad of start-ups, businesses and ventures.

In a recent LinkedIn post, Elvidge shared some insight into an ever-changing day in the life of a _Underscore.VC associate working directly with team members in four main areas: the investing process, internal operations, _Core support, and assisting with their non-profit initiative.

“The Associate role is a rotating position that _Underscore.VC has created in partnership with the co-op program at Northeastern University in order to bring younger talent onto the team and expose them to Venture Capital. It's an exceptional opportunity to experience life at both a startup and a VC firm,” said Elvidge.

Similar to other co-ops, every day is different, each with its own set of challenges and learning initiatives that fuse rigorous classroom studies with meaningful business experience.

Elvidge, a business administration major with concentrations in finance and entrepreneurship, as well as a minor in economics, highlighted the co-op program as essential for all Northeastern students, one that sets them apart when joining the workforce in any capacity.
