Timothy J. Rupert, Professor of Accounting Group at the D'Amore-McKim School of Business, was honored with the 2025 Outstanding Accounting Educator Award from the American Accounting Association (AAA) at its recent annual conference. This prestigious recognition, sponsored by PwC US Group LLP, is one of the highest honors in accounting education.

The Outstanding Accounting Educator Award is presented to educators who have made sustained contributions that have significantly impacted accounting education or accounting educators. Recipients must demonstrate excellence across multiple criteria, including educational innovation, excellence in teaching, publications related to accounting education, research guidance and mentorship to students, and impactful service to both the profession and academic community.

Kimberly Moreno, Chair of the Accounting Academic Group, says Rupert has had a profound impact on Northeastern and is highly deserving of this recognition. “Beyond his exceptional classroom presence, his dedication and genuine passion for our graduate programs have resulted in continuous improvements that benefit both students and faculty,” she says. “Professor Rupert cares deeply about student success and provides invaluable mentorship to both undergraduate and graduate students. His expertise is so respected that faculty regularly seek his guidance on teaching pedagogy. Professor Rupert is an amazing colleague whose dedication to our group is, quite frankly, unmatched.”

Beyond his teaching excellence, Rupert has demonstrated significant leadership in the accounting profession. He currently serves as an editor for the Journal of the American Taxation Association, and he sits on the editorial boards of Behavioral Research in Accounting, Issues in Accounting Education, and Advances in Taxation. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the American Accounting Association, serving as the Director Focusing on Segments.

His service contributions extend to various professional organizations, where his expertise has helped shape accounting education standards and practices across the field.

This prestigious national recognition highlights D'Amore-McKim's commitment to excellence in business education and reinforces the school's reputation for attracting and retaining faculty who combine exceptional teaching with meaningful service to their professions.
