Q:Where is your hometown?
A:Pittsfield, Massachusetts
Q:What did you study at the D'Amore-McKim School of Business and what is your graduation year?
A:MBA, Corporate Finance, 2018
Q:What did you do in your corporate residency?
A:My corporate residency was at IBM as a Senior Financial Analyst in the Watson Health Division.
Q:What skills did you build at D'Amore-McKim that you are using in your corporate residency or will use in your future career?
A:Teamwork. That may be cliché, but working with the same group for each class during the semester has allowed me to figure out how to play to each person's strengths and work through complex problems together even under tight deadlines.
Q:What is the biggest take-away from working toward your MBA at Northeastern? What can you do today that you couldn't do before you started your MBA?
A:My biggest take-away is not to be intimidated by a complicated issue or assignment. D'Amore-McKim has given me the tools necessary to analyze and find solutions to any problem put in front of me.
I am amazed at what I can do now that I most certainty could not do before starting this program. One specific instance was researching, modeling, and pitching a stock for the Huntington 360 Fund. If you asked me anything about investments or stocks before that, I would have changed the subject!
Q:What was your most valuable experience?
A:The most valuable experience was our Global Project. I was the Team Leader on a consulting project for GE in India. There was a steep learning curve, tight timeline, and pressure from the client to solve their biggest issue. In the end, it truly brought the classroom learning to a real-world situation while being immersed in the Indian culture.
Q:Why did you choose D'Amore-McKim?
A:Many reasons! First off, I was a career changer, from Hospitality to Corporate Finance, and I knew that I needed more than a 2-3 month internship to gain valuable experience. The corporate residency was a big draw for me. Second, both my sisters went to Northeastern as well as their husbands, so I knew it was a place I could fit in while getting a quality education. Lastly, the people! Each time I interacted with current students and the admissions staff, I truly felt like I belonged.
Q:What would you say to a prospective student considering D'Amore-McKim for their business degree?
A:If you are considering it, do it! Getting my MBA full time at D'Amore-McKim is one of the best decisions I have made. The professors and your classmates will challenge you to think differently and dig deeper.
Q:Where do you see yourself in 5 – 10 years?
A:I see myself leading a team in a global company, working abroad and making a true impact.
Q:How has D'Amore-McKim helped you to become more?
A:I said I was bored in my old role and wanted to be challenged; D'Amore-McKim did that and more! I have achieved things I never thought possible and have found a new confidence in myself. It also helped me make meaningful business connections AND lifelong friendships.
