Steve Booma has over 37 years of experience as an insurance executive managing multi-line "for profit" corporations and most recently led the operations for the largest "not for profit" health plan in New England, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. Under his leadership, Blue Cross Blue Shield increased membership by 50% and increased market share from 30% to a commanding 55% in the private health care market. Prior to Blue Cross, Steve was the President of Exclusive Healthcare, a subsidiary of Mutual of Omaha. Mr. Booma managed 11 regional HMOs and established a managed care strategy for the company utilizing key provider partnerships and selling under performing plans. His 23 year career with The Travelers included creating a new regional Home Office organizational structure, and he held the position of President of the Midwest Home office. Steve instituted new change management processes and was effective in creating a new vibrant culture for this organization. Steve has extensive experience with business strategy and managed several M&A projects including the purchase of a multi-line insurance company and the sale of Travelers to Citigroup. A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Mr. Booma is a past member of the Northeastern University College of Business Board of Visitors and has served on numerous boards including US Able Life Insurance Company, Project Bread and other charitable organizations.
