CEM was launched with seed money from the Liberty Mutual Foundation, followed by a grant from the US Department of Education.
Since our founding in 2007, we have been honored to receive generous gifts from several dedicated board members, alumni, and corporate partners to develop and strengthen our student programs, event series, and research initiatives. Gifts from David R. Nardone, Venkat & Pratima Srinivasan, Vivek & Vandana Sharma, and Ed and Colleen DiSanto have transformed CEM's ability to support faculty and student research, facilitate global learning experiences, and engage the academic and business community in Boston and beyond with emerging markets topics.

Benefactor Supported Programs
The Edmund and Colleen DiSanto Student Engagement and Innovation Fund will support curricular and other innovations relating to emerging markets, especially to encourage students who went to high schools in the city of Boston.
A gift from David R. Nardone, DMSB'79/MBA'82, will keep the Nardone Family Research Seminar Series running in perpetuity. This series features distinguished academics and practitioners who share insights about emerging markets with the Northeastern and Boston community.
The launch of the Center for Emerging Markets Vivek and Vandana Sharma India Initiative will create a groundbreaking package of programs that will expand and deepen the school's engagement with economic and business issues in India.
Thanks to a gift from Venkat and Vandana Srinivasan, CEM offers grants to undergraduate and graduate students at Northeastern University to pursue innovative projects that address pressing problems in emerging markets around the world.
