Syed Jafry was Senior Vice President and President, Regions at Thermo Fisher Scientific, and is currently on the board of a private equity company, GTCR, based in Chicago. Jafry joined Thermo Fisher Scientific in March 2005 as General Manager and Vice President of the Air Quality Instruments business after several years with GE. He was promoted to President of Thermo Fisher China in January 2008, based in Shanghai, China, and one year later, became President of the Environmental Instruments Division, also based in Shanghai.
In October 2009, Syed was named Senior Vice President of Customer and Commercial Excellence and relocated to the company's corporate office in Waltham, Massachusetts. He retired from Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2022. Syed has served on CEM's board since 2013.
