Meera Thamaran is a combined Business Administration and Psychology major with a concentration in Corporate Innovation. She is inspired and driven by idea generation, strategy, and connecting with people through business innovation. Through her self-made business, Lotus Designs, Meera performs high-impact marketing services for women-owned small businesses and channels profits into microloans for women-owned micro-enterprises in subsistence marketplaces in developing countries worldwide.
At Northeastern, she is actively involved with Global Research and Consulting (GRC), a student-run organization providing pro-bono consulting to nonprofits. Her multifaceted interests extend to competitive debate, having been ranked 14th in the nation for World Schools Debate.
As a CEM Student Associate, she aims to grow into a student thought leader in emerging markets through research opportunities and network-building, particularly in areas of microfinance, subsistence agriculture, and poverty alleviation through entrepreneurship.
