On Monday, March 31, the Center for Emerging Markets (CEM) welcomed over 25 students from across Northeastern University to its inaugural Student Research Expo on Emerging Markets, where six student and team finalists presented their research on a diverse range of economic, financial, technological, and social issues in emerging markets across the globe.

In 2024, Northeastern professor Shawn Bhimani helped launch Supply Trace, which uses machine learning to comb through millions of data points including news clippings, container labels and shipping documents.

On Monday, March 10, the Center for Emerging Markets (CEM) at Northeastern University celebrated the culmination of three years of its Srinivasan Family Awards student grant program with a reception attended by over two dozen past student and alumni awardees as well as several faculty mentors.

Victoria McCray, a Fall 2023 recipient of the Srinivasan Family Awards for Projects in Emerging Markets, organized an Open Science Neuro Hackathon at Lilongwe University in Malawi to make computational neuroscience more accessible to underrepresented researchers. With support from the Srinivasan Family Award, she created an inclusive learning environment where participants gained hands-on experience in neuroimaging, machine learning, and open-source research tools.
