About the gift

The Srinivasan Family Awards for Projects in Emerging Markets provide grants to full-time students at Northeastern University pursuing research, startups, service-learning projects, conferences, or other innovative work that addresses pressing problems in emerging markets. The fund was established in 2022 through a gift from Venkat and Pratima Srinivasan. Awards typically range from $1,000 to $3,000, with larger requests considered case by case.

Applications open twice a year, in fall and spring. The fund has supported an wide range of work: public health field research, climate and energy studies, medtech startups, academic conferences, and community-based social projects, spanning nearly every college at Northeastern with awardees from undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programs.
