Our MS in Quantitative Finance—shaped by leading financial firms—prepares you to join their ranks with coursework that blends financial theory with electives in coding, mathematics, econometrics while equipping you with tools such as Python and advanced Excel. International students

Northeastern's Office of Global Services provides the expertise and support you need to maintain compliance through your immigration, academic journey, and employment experiences—including any Curricular Practical Training deemed necessary or integral to your academic program and Pre-Completion and Post-Completion Optional Practical Training work authorization.

As a STEM-designated program, eligible international students may qualify for extended OPT, allowing up to 36 months of work authorization in the U.S. after graduation.

MBA opportunities

Considering an MBA from D'Amore-McKim? The MS in Quantitative Finance can be your first step. Maintain a 3.0 GPA and meet grade requirements to apply up to 30 credits toward an MBA within three years of completing your degree. Once accepted, you'll qualify for the Double Husky scholarship, reducing tuition by 25%. (Admission is not guaranteed.) 

Applicant FAQs

Classes begin in September. As a MS in Quantitative Finance student, you'll finish the program in 12 to 16 months studying full-time or in two years on a typical part-time schedule. Degrees are conferred in May, August, and December with a graduation ceremony held at the end of the spring term. 

To apply, log in—or create an account—on our application portal, choose your program, and answer a few questions. You'll need to submit:

  • A personal statement (<=500 words)
  • Resumé
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Academic transcript(s) from all undergraduate and graduate schools attended
  • Kira online interview (by invitation, access provided after submitting your application)
  • Optional GMAT/GRE test scores
  • TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, or PTE Academic (if applicable)
  • Passport or permanent residency card (if applicable)

Yes, international students must meet additional requirements, including proof of English language proficiency, a valid passport, and English translations of academic transcripts. Yes. International students in F-1 immigration status are eligible for a corporate residency using Curricular Practical Training authorization. When you complete your program, you may become eligible to apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT), which, if granted, allows you to work in the United States for up to 12 months. We encourage you to work closely with your career advisor and an advisor in the Office of Global Services.

Northeastern University's D'Amore-McKim School of Business is currently test-optional and does not require applicants to submit GRE or GMAT scores.
