Brendan McCarty is the Managing Member of ScaleBuilder LLC, a New York–based investment manager that oversees a suite of hedge funds operated through a feeder structure in partnership with parent company Ayaltis. In this capacity, he is responsible for firm strategy, fund operations, regulatory compliance, and the technology infrastructure supporting trading, analytics, and risk oversight across U.S., European, and BVI jurisdictions. He chairs the firm's Risk and Onboarding Committees, directs audits, NAV and valuation processes, and regulatory engagement with the NFA and other supervisory bodies, and serves as a Director of the Astraeus and Guardant Funds. Mr. McCarty launched the ScaleBuilder Futures Fund and leads a team across investment, compliance, and operations.
Mr. McCarty has more than twenty years of experience in the investment management industry. In addition to Scalebuilder, he is Founder and Managing Principal of Column Advisors, a hedge fund management and quantitative research firm he established in Amesbury, Massachusetts, during the COVID-19 pandemic. At Column E Advisors, served as Chief Investment Officer and Chief Risk Officer, launched the CE Harbinger LR Fund and related strategies, completed NFA reviews, and oversaw CFTC compliance, fund operations, and audits.
From 2008 to 2020, Mr. McCarty was a Financial Advisor and Registered Associate at Morgan Stanley in Boston, where he was a member of a three-person advisory team responsible for managing more than $450 million in client assets for high-net-worth individuals and institutions, and where he directed branch operations for one year, coordinating ninety advisors and approximately $5 billion in assets. He began his career as an Account Executive at Bear Stearns Companies in Boston, where he worked from 2000 to 2008.
Mr. McCarty holds a Master of Business Administration from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College and a Bachelor of Arts in Management and Marketing from Providence College. He is a Chartered Market Technician (CMT), a designation he has held since 2005, and maintains Series 3, Series 7, and Series 63 licenses, along with Health and Life insurance licensure. He has served in fiduciary and governance roles outside his professional practice, including as Treasurer and Board Member of the Amesbury Soccer Association from 2013 to 2023 and as Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer, and Board Member of The Seasons Resort in Bartlett, New Hampshire, from 2016 to 2018. He resides in Amesbury, Massachusetts.
