The D'Amore-McKim School of Business has received an unprecedented gift from Gary Dunton, DMSB'78, and his wife Lea Anne. The Dunton Family Deanship is the first endowed deanship at Northeastern University.

This gift will enable the dean to empower students, faculty, and staff, expanding the already growing ecosystem of global and experiential learning. It will also provide D'Amore-McKim with a foundation to cultivate resources, supporting both new and existing initiatives.

“The business school gave me the credentials and the skills to do well,” Dunton says. “We like the direction it's going in, and we want others to benefit from their experiences as students.”

After learning lifelong lessons though co-op and his career, Gary climbed the ranks of companies in the finance and insurance industry, such as Aetna and USF&G, in addition to his most recent time at MBIA, Inc., as president, CEO, and chairman.

Gary and Lea Anne are active members of the Northeastern community. Gary mentors students and is a member of the D'Amore-McKim Dean's Executive Council, as well as Northeastern's corporation. Lea Anne is a co-chair of the Parents of Alumni subcommittee, and an advisor to Mosaic, a collection of student organizations dedicated to supporting budding entrepreneurs. Their daughter, Julia, DMSB'15, is a relationship management analyst at BlackRock in Boston.
