Ruth V. Aguilera, a Distinguished Professor in the prestigious D'Amore-McKim School of Business International Business and Strategy academic group, has been recently appointed as the new Darla and Frederick Brodsky Trustee Professor in Global Business.

“Today's global business landscape demands fresh approaches to international corporate governance, social responsibility, and strategy, and we have a responsibility to ensure that students thrive in this developing environment,” says Aguilera. “Support from Fred and Darla Brodsky inspires my teaching, invigorates my research, and brings important visibility to D'Amore-McKim's thought leadership in international business.”

As the Brodsky Chair, Aguilera will work with her colleagues in further developing D'Amore-McKim's research agenda in International Business and Strategy, as well as international business activities as a center of excellence in the school. She will also be focused on programs that enhance undergraduate, graduate, and executive education in international business.

This esteemed academic honor recognizes Aguilera's significant accomplishments and contributions to D'Amore-McKim's mission in the area of International Business and Strategy. Her research, teaching, and service efforts – including her professional accomplishments and recognition – are significant and have attracted worldwide acclaim. In 2016 she was named a Fellow to the Academy of International Business (AIB), and in 2018 she was inducted as a Fellow to the Strategic Management Society (SMS). 

Her research interests lie at the intersection of international business, economic sociology, and organization studies. Her core areas of research are in comparative corporate governance, corporate sustainability, and firm internationalization processes. Her work has been published in top scholarly journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, the Academy of Management ReviewOrganization Science, and the Strategic Management Journal, and she has received over 13,000 Google Scholar citations – a testament to her outstanding research impact. In addition, she serves as Senior Editor at Organization Science and Corporate Governance: An International Review; a Consulting Editor at the Journal of International Business Studies; a Senior Advisory Board member of Global Strategy Journal, and serves on the editorial boards of five other top-tier journals. She was also recently re-elected for a second term to the Board of Directors of the Strategic Management Society and the International Corporate Governance Society.
