About Fadi El-Jardali and Gary Young
Fadi El-Jardali is a Professor of Health Policy and Systems and former Chairperson of the Health Policy and Management Department (HMPD) at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the American University of Beirut. He is also the Founder and the Director of the Knowledge to Policy (K2P) Center; Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center for Evidence-Informed Policy and Practice; Co-Director of the Center for Systematic Reviews in Health Policy and Systems Research (SPARK) at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. He is an adjunct professor at the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact at McMaster University in Canada.
El-Jardali holds a PhD in Public Policy from Carleton University in Canada. He has held senior positions with policy analysis-related organizations such as the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the Federal Department of Health / Health Canada, and the Health Council of Canada.
Gary Young is the Director of the Northeastern University Center for Health Policy and Healthcare Research as well as a Professor of Strategic Management and Healthcare Systems and the Group Chair for the International Business and Strategy Group at Northeastern University. Before joining Northeastern University, he was chairman of the Department of Health Policy and Management at Boston University and also worked as a healthcare attorney within the federal government and for a national healthcare consulting firm. Young's research generally pertains to managerial, policy, and legal issues associated with the delivery of healthcare services.
His published work has appeared in such journals as the New England Journal of Medicine, Academy of Management Journal, California Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Health Affairs, and Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law. In addition, he has served on many national-level policy committees including those for the Internal Revenue Service, the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and Department of Homeland Security.
