About the Event

Over the last decade, China has gone from a “rule taker” to a “rule maker” in international business. Under President Xi Jinping, China has launched a series of initiatives, such as the Belt and Road Initiative, the Made in China 2025 Initiative, the Digital Silk Road Initiative, and others that have the potential to reshape the global business and economic landscape.

In this talk, Michael Enright, Pierre Choueiri Family Professor of Global Business at the D'Amore-McKim School of Business, described the economic and geopolitical motivations behind these major initiatives, assessed their progress to date, and discussed both international support and pushback on these initiatives. He concluded with observations on what these initiatives mean for non-Chinese companies and for global business.
