Student Learning

CEM provides grants to Northeastern University students to pursue innovative projects addressing pressing problems in emerging markets through the Srinivasan Family Awards for Projects in Emerging Markets.

We support an interdisciplinary undergraduate minor in emerging markets, the student-run Emerging Markets club, and Global Summits organized by student organizations. CEM has extended scholarships to students undertaking international co-ops and field study trips in emerging economies.

Srinivasan Family Awards for Student Projects in Emerging Markets

Made possible by a gift from the Srinivasan Family, the Center for Emerging Markets invited grant proposals from students at Northeastern University to conduct research, organize a conference, explore a startup idea, participate in a service-learning project, or pursue an innovative project that addresses pressing problems in emerging markets.

Student Opportunities

Deepening student engagement with emerging markets within and outside of the classroom

The minor in emerging markets introduces students to the challenges and opportunities that face companies in countries that are rapidly developing into more developed world economies.

The Emerging Markets Club, formed in 2015, exposes students to the opportunities and challenges in these countries. The club works closely with the Center for Emerging Markets to bring speakers to campus and to organize other events, including expanding coop opportunities. All undergraduate students at Northeastern are welcome to get involved.

Student Associates strengthen and expand Emerging Market-related programming and research at Northeastern by serving as CEM's undergraduate ambassadors. Associates entering their final academic semester may be recognized as Student Fellows. Undergraduate students from all Northeastern schools and colleges are welcome to get involved.
